A GAME OF TWO HALF'S AND IF OK I WOULD LIKE TO FORGET THE FIRST HALF
Another win at home but going on the first half performance that seemed somewhat wishful thinking.. Shrewsbury finished the half one nil up after scoring with about five minutes on the clock and we spent the rest of the half huffing and puffing trying to get the goal back. Shrewsbury looked a strong composed outfit from the off and they were coming close even before they scored while we were the opposite and anybody watching that half would have thought that we were down near the bottom and they were up there near the top. Their number 7 was giving Mark Beevers a tough old time and it is probably 45 minutes that our central defender would like to forget.

Not for the first time this season we improve in the second half and the second 45 minutes see us score three and our promotion push is still on track. Our first goal was a cracker scored by Ben Thompson who when outside of the penalty area controlled a Shrewsbury clearance with his chest and then hit a volley which was so sweet the keeper had no chance and the Den went into orbit.

Enjoying the lime-light
I think it was thought that Ben Thompson's first league goal would be something special and he didn't disappoint with this finish and he didn't disappoint with his celebration and at the final whistle not wanting to go down the tunnel after the game while the applause was still going on.
After we had equalised with Thompson's goal we were piling on the pressure and it did not take long for us to go into the lead when Steve Morison nicely put away with his head a Chris Taylor corner. This was such a slick header the keeper didn't see it let alone save it. We stiffened up all over the park and we kept Shrewsbury frustrated so they could not add to their goal tally. In extra time we got our third goal as Lee Gregory latched on to a poor Shrewsbury back pass and was floored by the keeper inside the box.
The keeper received a red card and Lee Gregory got up and buried the penalty.
