Millwall 4 Bristol Rovers 0, League One, Game 16, att: 9,645 (1,018)

Cold Blow Lane

Bristol Rovers were reduced to ten me on 14 minutes when the defender Leadbetter was sent off for a professional foul and although Rovers still managed to give us a game they finally succumb to the Lions onslaught and young striker Harry Smith making his full league debut finished the scoring off went he picked up a sloppy Rovers pass and turned an poked it in from close range. He had scored a couple at Luton in the Checkatrade Trophy midweek but this was surreal as he put it to score at the Den in front of the Cold Blow Lane end. He's off and running so let's watch this space.

Cold Blow Lane
Celebrating Smithy's Goal

We have had some decent wins recently and had some good results but this one must be near the top. I know Bristol were reduced to ten men so we had the advantage but you still have to put the ball in the net and to do it four times is a result. Aiden O'Brien scored to get us up and running when he picked up a the ball after Lee Gregory's shot was blocked and fired home on 22 minutes.
Harry Smith nearly scored at the beginning of the second half with a shot low to the ground but the keeper parried and the loose ball nearly reached Gregory but the ref blew for a foul. Rovers were giving it ago but although they had some decent moments on 64 minutes Shaun Williams scored our second when Gregory who was everywhere throughout the game passed and Williams shot on the angle gave the keeper no chance. Lee Gregory eventually scored himself a few minutes later after Harry Smith set him up from a header and Gregory tucked in away and sent the Den into orbit. As mentioned earlier Smith scored our fourth and we move to just one point outside the play off spots with 24 points.

Top Eight:
1) Scunthorpe 37 pts,   2)Bradford City 32 pts,    3)Bolton 31 pts,    4)Sheffield Utd 28pts,   5)Bristol Rovers 26pts,    6)Port Vale 25pts,    7)Northampton 24pts,    8)Millwall 24pts
